Dr. Cyril I Evian Specializes in treating periodontal disease, replacing missing teeth, and problems associated with the Tempero-mandibular Joint (TMJ). One of our major specialties is helping to create beautiful smiles!
Periodontal Diagnosis & Treatments
The periodontal diagnosis is the determination of the specific problem associated with the gums and bone that support the tooth. This varies from early to advanced periodontal disease, and based on the diagnosis of the stage of the problem the treatment plan is determined. This treatment is then carried out to restore the mouth to a state of health.
Dental implants are a successful form of treatment for patients who have lost teeth. The Implant replaces the root of the tooth for either single or multiple teeth. In most cases, it takes three to four months for the implant to integrate with the bone. At that stage, the abutment and crown are fitted onto the implant. Dr. Evian specializes in the surgical placement of implants, and works in-conjunction with his referral group of dentists to restore the function and form of the tooth and mouth.
Tempromandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorders
There are many different aspects to the treatment of pain and discomfort in the joint of the jaw. This includes, medication, bite adjustment, appliance therapy, and in certain cases orthodontics or oral surgery. Dr. Evian conducts a thorough evaluation and diagnosis, which determines the correct therapy for the patient.
Cosmetic dentistry involves correcting the gum-line to improve the overall smile. This entails a resection (cutting away) or adding of gum to improve sites where gum and bone have been lost as a result of extractions. In many cases, this surgical treatment is needed before any restorative dentistry can be completed.
After any periodontal or dental treatment it is important that the patient follows up with a periodic maintenance program. This varies between two and six months depending on the severity of the individual’s case. At each visit, the hygienist evaluates the mouth and cleans the teeth both above and below the gum-line to eliminate the bacteria, which is the cause of periodontitis.
